Description
GOLDEN'S NATURAL TUNG OIL FINISH

Golden's Natural Tung Oil Finish is a ready-to-use mix of only Golden's Pure Tung Oil mixed with Golden's Citrus Solvent.  This makes an all-natural, non-toxic, petroleum free finish.

Tung ("heart" in Chinese) oil comes from cold pressing the seeds (nut) of the tung oil tree. The two major sources for tung oil are China and South America. Chinese tung oil usually has a slightly higher iodine content and is usually lighter in color than the South American tung oil.

Unlike some other brands of tung oil, we only use the more expensive Chinese tung oil since the higher iodine content appears to speed the curing process.

Characteristics:
  • Acid Resistant
  • Color Fast - Maintains color, does not darken like linseed oil or yellow like polyurethane
  • Coats required varies depending on wood and use (floors, furniture, trim)
  • Cures by oxidation instead of evaporation
  • Durabile surface that resists wear (can easily be touched up without problems experienced with varnish or polyurethane
  • Satin finish
  • Slightly citrus odor until dry
  • Non-toxic, FDA approved for use on food preparation surfaces.
  • Waterproof
Uses:
  • Floors
  • Furniture
  • Wood trim
  • Sealant for milk paint (will deepen color)
  • Butcher blocks and cutting boards
  • Countertops
  • Sculpture
